After showing an early interest in photography, he became a member of the studio f45 in Ravenna when he was just fifteen. In 1989, he became a full-time news photographer, and the following year he entered the Grazia Neri agency, producing photography on religions in Italy and on the Balkan Wars. A member of the Magnum Photos agency since 2001, Alex Majoli still documents wars around the world for magazines such as Newsweek, New York Times Magazine, Granta, and National Geographic. His most recent project, Libera Me, a reflection on the human condition, was published in 2011. He lives in New York and Milan.
